Passed away Saturday January 14, 2012 at the age of 93.  George Henry Harold Helpap was born June 25, 1918 in Saginaw to the late Ludwig and Johanna (Kaiser) Helpap.  He married Elline Hecht October 15, 1949 in Frankenmuth.  She survives him.  George was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed riding and fixing bicycles and working in his yard.  George first worked as a postman for the U.S. Postal Service.  He then worked for Sunshine Biscuit Co. before going to work for General Motors, Steering Gear Plant 2.
Surviving besides his wife Elline are two daughters, Patricia Helpap and June (James) Ford, and one son Dennis Helpap.  George was predeceased by his son Kenneth G. Helpap and his grandson Matthew James Ford.
We give thanks to our Lord for His love and blessings showered upon George for 93 years and for taking him home to be with Him forever in the peace and joy of heaven.
Funeral service will take place 11AM Friday January 20, 2012 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 Court Street.  Rev. James Krueger will officiate with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Road (S. M-47) on Thursday from 3-6 PM and at the church on Friday one hour before the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School.
