Our beloved mother went to be with the Lord on Friday December 16, 2011. Age 81 years. Patricia Mae Carpenter was born August 7, 1930 in Detroit to the late John R. and Mable L. (Ledbetter) Carpenter. She married Richard F. Simpson May 4, 1949. He predeceased her November 1, 1990. She married Edwin A. Lumley August 9, 1997. He predeceased her December 5, 2011. Pat was a former member of First Christian Church West in Saginaw. She was employed in the clerk’s office at Saginaw City Hall until her retirement. She enjoyed volunteering at Houghton Lake Elementary School and loved quilting and cooking. Pat was a faithful lifelong friend to many and family was most important to her.
Surviving are her son John Paul Simpson; her daughter Jennie Mae Larson; three grandchildren, Richard E. Simpson, Edward J. Larson, II, and Kimberly G. (Joshua) Ruark; two step-grandchildren, James (Sharon) Graham and Amy Lloyd; 12 great grandchildren, Amanda, Sierra, Dakota, Tray, Gabriel, Amanda, Danny, Stephanie, Kaleena, Mikayla, Aaron, and Ben; her sister Norma J. Peshick; and special friends Sherry and Joe Fox, Rev. Clarence Spencer, Robert and Violet Acha, Paul and Linda Sue Lebran, Charles and Patricia Duncan and Lloyd and Phyllis Yuill. Pat was predeceased by two brothers, John R. Carpenter, Jr. and Clifford E. Carpenter.
Funeral Service will take place 11AM Monday December 19, 2011 at Sheridan Road Baptist Church, 6911 Sheridan Road. Pastor Lou Jurva will officiate. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church on Monday one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings are suggested to Sheridan Road Baptist Church.
