Passed away at home Sunday, November 13, 2011.  Age 68 years.  He was born October 6, 1943 to William P. and Edwina McCarthy.  Bill retired in 1993 from General Motors Plant 3.  He loved hunting, fishing, going out on his pontoon boat, and spending time at his home in Houghton Lake.
He leaves to cherish and adore him, his wife Joan McCarthy; daughters Debbie (John) Potter, Shelly (Jim) Mayer, and Melissa (Joel Neorr) Steckert; his son Steve McCarthy; two stepsons Melvin and Tommy Middleton; 12 grandchildren Austin, Taylor, Isaiah, Grace, and Elayna Potter, Brandon, Andrew, and Lauren Mayer, Erin and Justin Steckert, Isaac Neorr, and Brenden Akin; two step grandsons, Cole and Joel Neorr; and his loving dog Kira.  Bill is also survived by six siblings, Jean Huntoon of California, Edward McCarthy of Saginaw, Marie Dijak of Saginaw, Cheryl Boyer of Saginaw, Sharon Howe of Saginaw, and Kevin McCarthy of Florida.
Funeral service will take place 11AM Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home on South Midland Road (South M-47).  Chaplain Bill Rabior will officiate with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  Friends and family are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11AM - 2PM and 5PM – 9PM and one hour before the funeral on Wednesday.  Memorial offerings are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
